A GI is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation due to that origin. Examples include Darjeeling Tea, Kanchipuram Silk, and Alphonso Mangoes.

Who can apply for GI registration?

Any association of persons, producers, organisation, or authority established by law representing the interests of producers of the concerned goods can apply for GI registration.
